Hoyt began her career in radio broadcasting at the age of 19 in Panama City. In 1980, she began her career in television news at the NBC affiliate in Panama City. In the mid-1980s, she worked as a radio news director in Clarksville, Tennessee, while her husband was in the US Army. Hoyt resumed her television news profession after returning to Panama City. She obtained an anchor role at WMBB NEWS13 in 1994. She is now the anchor of the Senior Evening News.
Hoyt is proud of her community’s support. She has served on the American Heart Association’s, Guardian Ad Litem’s, and Gulf Coast State College’s boards of directors. She has been named Beta Sigma Phi International’s First Lady of the Year, Panama City Living Magazine’s favorite news anchor, and a Best of Bay top media personality over the years. She was recently awarded a 2019 Pinnacle Award winner, one of 10 women honored for their community involvement across the Panhandle.
WMBB is an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Panama City, Florida, that broadcasts on virtual and VHF digital channel 13. Nexstar Media Group is the station’s owner. The studios of WMBB are on Harrison Avenue/US 231 in Panama City, and the transmitter is in unincorporated Youngstown, near the Bay–Calhoun county line.
