Kendall started two games as a backup quarterback for Baker Mayfield at Oklahoma in 2016, completing 16 of 22 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Kendall made six appearances and one start as Kyler Murray’s backup after redshirting in 2017. He completed 12 of 17 throws for 122 yards and one touchdown on the season. In 2018, he appeared in four games and passed for a total of 122 yards.

Kendall was expected to be a contender for the Sooners’ starting quarterback prior to the 2019 season. He did, however, enter the NCAA transfer portal shortly after Jalen Hurts made the decision to transfer to Oklahoma. Kendall was a graduate transfer to West Virginia University before the start of the season. Kendall appeared in six games after redshirting in 2017 and made one start as Kyler Murray’s backup.
