In 1997 and 1999, he won “Best Television Report” in the National Soccer League’s National Media Awards due to reports that he did on the Brisbane Strikers. On September 9, 2007, Ben was tackled and subsequently assaulted by two men whilst doing a live cross from Melbourne during sport for Seven News Brisbane.
Over the past 15 years, Ben has reported on some of Queensland’s biggest sporting moments such as the Brisbane Strikers’ historic NSL grand final campaign, the Brisbane Broncos grand final wins, and the North Queensland Cowboys grand final appearance. Moreover, he reported on the 2005 Ashes Tour of England, the Kangaroo’s 2000 World Cup triumph in Manchester, and also Allan Langer’s unforgettable State of Origin comeback.
