Dery has returned to Minnesota after working for KARE 11’s sister station, KING 5, in Seattle for five years. He grew raised in the Chisago Lakes area and began his broadcasting career in Duluth, where he worked on the morning show doing the weather. He earned his bachelor’s degree in meteorology from SCSU, where he also interned at KARE in 2008.
His fascination with weather began at a young age. There are family photos of him standing outside with an ice cream bucket on his head during a hail storm! He also received a meteorological merit badge on his approach to becoming an Eagle Scout. Dery has earned the title of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. When he’s not forecasting, you’ll find him fishing, camping, or trekking in the great outdoors.
