Brittany went to Cabrillo College after graduating from high school. She subsequently moved south to Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo County, where she got crucial broadcast experience at the school’s radio station.

She subsequently proceeded to Eastern New Mexico University, where she received her bachelor’s degree and began her broadcasting career at New Mexico’s leading PBS affiliate. She first put her skills to use reporting, anchoring, and producing for “News 3 New Mexico.” After receiving multiple awards at her university, including “Outstanding Undergraduate in Broadcast Journalism,” she graduated in May 2007.

She was ecstatic to return to the Central Coast and work for the station where she grew up. Brittany was hired as a reporter at KSBW in 2007 after an internship in 2006 and was promoted to weekend nightly news anchor in 2010. Nielsen joins the #1 weekday morning news station on the California Central Coast in 2014. Brittany was Miss California High School Rodeo District 4 from 2001 to 2002, and she is a proud member of the National High School Rodeo Association. In 1999, she took first place in the California Rodeo Salinas Pro-Am Team Roping.
