Charlie Lee is a well-known affluent entrepreneur in the emerging cryptocurrency industry, he is known for being the founder of Litecoin (LTC).
He also worked for Google for a decade in the 2000s. His responsibilities at the company included writing code for Chrome OS. He became interested in Bitcoin in 2011. He released Litecoin on Bitcointalk in October 2011. During his free time at Google, he had written the blockchain technology-based on Bitcoin.
After mining only 150 coins he released Litecoin to the public. He said that he did not intend to compete with Bitcoin but meant Litecoin to be used for smaller transactions. He left Google in July 2013 and started working at Coinbase, prior to the cryptocurrency exchange adopting the coin he had created.
He later announced on Reddit that he sold almost all of his Litecoin holdings due to a perceived conflict of interest, In December 2017.
