After Chitra’s post-graduation, she had no thoughts of being a journalist, because she wanted to join the Indian Army. Later on, after she began her career at a Doordarshan Center in Gorakhpur, it changed her mind and she decided to pursue a career in journalism.
She started working at Sahara India after going to Delhi, from Gorakhpur. Prior to working with ABP News, she worked with India News, Sahara India, News 24, ETV Network, and Doordarshan. The Indian Army gave her a letter of appreciation for her story ‘Hindustan Ka Mission Jai Hind,’ when Chitra was working at India News.
In 2016, after she joined ABP News 2016, she began working on shows like the weekly show ‘Press Conference,’ ‘Kaun Banega Mukhiyamantri’ ‘Modi Ke 4 Saal,’ and ‘2019 Kaun Jeetega’ as a host. She resigned from ABP News on 11 February 2019 and began working as the Deputy Editor and Anchor at Aaj Tak. Whjile here she worked on the show ‘Desh Tak,’ as the host.
