Chris Walley is a well-known Irish actor. He is most known for his portrayal of Jock O’Keeffe in the 2016 comedy film The Young Offenders, for which he received an IFTA Award, as well as its accompanying RTÉ and BBC Three series. He received a Laurence Olivier Award for his portrayal in the West End version of The Lieutenant of Inishmore.

He auditioned for the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London after finishing secondary school, but he was rejected and instead began studying full-time at Cork School of Music as part of their BA in Drama and Theatre courses. He re-auditioned for RADA the following year and was given one of their coveted 28 slots, beating out 3,500 other candidates.

Walley had auditioned for and got a role in an independent Irish film intended to be headquartered and filmed locally in Cork before beginning third level study. The Young Offenders, written and directed by Peter Foott, became the fastest Irish picture to surpass the €1 million barrier at the Irish box office in 2016. Walley was nominated for multiple prizes for his work as Jock, including the IFTA for Best Supporting Actor. Because of the film’s popularity, RTÉ revealed on May 9, 2017, that a six-episode television series based on the same name has been ordered.
