Damar Romeyelle Hamlin is a prominent American football safety for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. Previously, he played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent most of his rookie season as a backup before becoming a starter in 2022 after a season-ending injury to Micah Hyde.  Apart from his football career, Damar is a fashion entrepreneur. He started a fashion line, Chasing Millions, while at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Buffalo Bills drafted him in the sixth round with the 212th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed his four-year rookie contract with Buffalo on May 21, 2021, and played a reserve role in his first season, tallying two tackles and two pass breakups in 14 games played.

In 2022, he became one of Buffalo’s starting safeties after Micah Hyde suffered a season-ending neck injury in Week 2. Damar led the team with 12 tackles and a sack in the 20–17 loss against the New York Jets in Week 9. He was ejected after an illegal hit on Jakobi Meyers in the 24–10 win in Week 13 against the New England Patriots.

On January 2, 2023, he suffered a cardiac arrest after making a tackle during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Automated external defibrillation (AED) and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were quickly administered before he was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. He played his first NFL snap since his cardiac arrest in the Bills’ preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on August 12, 2023.

On May 15, 2023, he received the George Halas Award which is given annually by the Pro Football Writers of America to the NFL staff member, coach, or player who overcomes the most adversity to succeed. Furthermore, Damar was honored to present the Pat Tillman Award to the Buffalo Bills training staff during the ESPY awards ceremony on July 12, 2023.
