She had the opportunity to travel the country as a member of the BYU cheer squad and intern in New York City in the lifestyle department at NY1 while at BYU. Beckstrom spent a year in eastern Idaho working as an anchor and reporter after graduation. Before moving back home to Boise to take over morning weather at KIVI. While enrolling at Mississippi State University to get her meteorology certification.
