Who is Darren Cahill?

This is all you need to know about Darren Cahill, a popular renowned Australian retired professional tennis player and tennis coach. In 1984 Darren turned professional and he won his first tour doubles title at the Melbourne Outdoor tournament in 1985. Furthermore, Darren was awarded his first top-level singles title in 1987 at New Haven, and in 1989 at the Australian Open partnering fellow Aussie Mark Kratzmann he completed runner-up in men’s doubles. Darren won the ATP Championships in Cincinnati also with Kratzmann. Darren was an associate of the Australian team which in 1990 made it to the final of the Davis Cup and in the final, the team was defeated by the United States 3–2.

In 1991 in San Francisco, Darren won his last tour singles title and in 1994 in Sydney, his last doubles title came. Darren’s coaching career commenced in January 2022 working for tennis player Amanda Anisimova as a trial coach. In July 2022 Darren joined Simone Vagnozzi working as a coach for Jannik Sinner. At the 2023 ATP Awards, the pair was awarded the award for Coach of the Year. Darren coached Jannik Sinner in 2024 to win the Australian Open.

Darren has been working for the global sports network ESPN as a tennis analyst since 2007 for three of the four major tennis the US Open, Wimbledon, the Grand Slams, and the Australian Open. Furthermore, Darren served for the Hopman Cup and Australian Open on the Australian television network Channel 7.
