Dave worked as a radio commentator for the Miami Hurricanes basketball and baseball teams from 1998 to 2000. From 1993 until 1999, he worked as a host and substitute for a play-by-play announcer for the Miami Heat.

Dave began working part-time for ABC Sports as a college football sideline reporter in 2004. In 2005, he added play-by-play responsibilities.
