Dennis Miller is a prominent American comedian, actor, political commentator, sports commentator, and talk show host. He was a cast member of Saturday Night Live between 1985 and 1991. Later, he hosted his own talk shows on HBO, CNBC, and also in Syndication.
From 2007 to 2015, Dennis hosted a daily three-hour self-titled talk radio program that is nationally syndicated by Westwood One. On March 9, 2020, he launched his twice-weekly show called Dennis Miller + One on RT America which features celebrity interviews.

He made the decision that he had to chase his dream of being a stand-up comedian in 1979. Dennis started his comedy profession in Pittsburgh by performing at open mic nights. He withdrew from his first two tries to perform at an open mic. Most of his family members were in the audience to cheer him when he ultimately made his very first debut on Sleepy Hollow Road at the Oak’s Lounge in Castle Shannon.
Dennis began to appear onstage in Castle Shannon at the Oak’s Longe while serving at the Giant Eagle deli in Kennedy. He continued with his stand-ups in Oakland and at places such as Brandy’s in the Strip District. He later tried to fast-track his comedy career by moving to New York where he submitted a joke for a Playboy magazine contest for humor writing that was judged by an all-star panel including David Brenner.
With almost 15,000 entries, Dennis was second and his picture and joke appeared in the issue of the magazine in June 1979. Therefore, he won $500 in Playboy’s first annual humor competition. While still working in New York, Dennis was listed by the Hustler Magazine in a piece known as “The 10 Funniest People in America You’ll Never See on TV”.
