Derek Kevra Biography
Derek Kevra is a well-known American Meteorologist for Fox 2 News Detroit. The Michigan native, Kevra was born and raised in Livonia. He went to Stevenson High School, Riley Middle School, and Coolidge Elementary. Kevra interned at Fox 2 News.
He made his broadcasting career at KDRV in Medford, OR as their morning meteorologist. Two down the line, he joined New Orleans, where he worked at WWL-TV. Due to his Tropical Meteorology studies in school, Kevra was prepared for the extensive severe weather coverage they had during hurricane season.
Hurricane Isaac made landfall less than 100 miles south of New Orleans and they were on air 24 hours a day for 5 straight days back in 2012. It was an event that showed him the true power of Mother Nature. Kevra went back home to Metro Detroit and joined Fox 2 News weather team.
