Since then he has filed reports for ABC prime programs including Nightline, Primetime, 20/20 Downtown, World News Tonight, and Good Morning America. He also reported stories from Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq for war coverage.

He was one of the first American journalists to travel to Afghanistan. This was before the U.S started a bombing campaign against the Taliban. He also became the first journalist from this country, along with a team from Nightline to successfully cross the Syrian border into northern Iraq preceding the Iraq War in 2002.

He also started working for CBS2 News On September 4, 2007, as a weekend evening anchor. Later the Daily News reported that the station had decided to hire Don On May 27, 2008. He aired at 12 noon and 6.00 PM News. In both shows, he was paired with veteran Dana Tyler.
