Elizabeth, who was born in the Grand Rapids area, has lived in the Upper Peninsula for nearly 18 years. Since she was a child, Elizabeth has worked in the television industry. Her grandmother, mother, and aunt all worked in various roles at television stations around the country. She was encouraged to pursue a career in broadcast journalism after seeing them, listening to their stories, and spending so much time behind the scenes.

Elizabeth attended Michigan State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Journalism and Related Programs. She served as a reporter and anchor for TV6’s Early News and News Tonight from 2005 till 2009. She was also a morning producer and, at one point, the first producer and anchor for FOX UP News.

She has had positions as the executive director of the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce, sales manager for the Northern Center at Northern Michigan University, and most recently, producer and host for WNMU since her stint at TV6. She has had the good fortune to work with a number of wonderful people over the years who have assisted her in developing a deeper understanding of the Upper Peninsula and its residents.

She is happy to return to TV6 and bring those skills with her to support her in her new role as morning anchor. She has always treasured news, but it has never felt more important to her than it does now. Peterson enjoys climbing, mountaineering, traveling, and spending as much time as she can outside with her family and friends.
