As a child of 6 years, Frances first tried her hand at gardening on a large planter that was given to her by her mother. She completed her schooling and worked as a shop assistant at Marks and Spencer in Deal, Kent.
Her mother played a big role in her success in horticulture. Tophill was the one who persuaded her to apply for a local gardening apprenticeship at Salutation Gardens.
Frances took the advice of her mother seriously and instead of focusing on earning she focused her energy and mind on learning gardening during her apprenticeship at the Salutation Gardens.
It started with an email from ITV’s Show “Love Your Garden” Staff to her college which was an opportunity for all the college students including herself to give the screen tests.
She has passed the tests and was offered a job at the ITV Network’s Love Your Garden cast. She has traveled to many parts of the country and helped in transforming the garden in the second season in 2012.
Her work experience increased by leaps and bounds and she got the show famous BBC program about gardening called “Gardener’s World” in the year 2016. The show won a platinum medal and best in a show at Gardner’s World Live at the NEC in Birmingham in June 2022.
