During the 1991 NBA draft, he was selected by the New York Knicks in the first round, 12th overall. Greg was chosen as a good defender and remained with the team until 1995. During the expansion draft, he was selected first overall by the Vancouver Grizzlies and played for two seasons. In addition, he has played for Seattle, Portland, Chicago, and Milwaukee. He retired in 2002 while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.
His broadcasting career began after he retired when he joined ESPN as an analyst for NBA coverage on both ESPN and ABC. On December 13, 2008, he took over as CBS Sports’ college basketball commentator for Clark Kellogg.
Also, he worked as a color analyst for the YES Network for the 2012–2013 Brooklyn Nets season. He collaborated on the project with Mike Fratello, Jim Spanarkel, and Ian Eagle. In addition, he has been a commentator in the NBA 2K video game series since NBA 2K16.
