During the expansion draft, he was selected first overall by the Vancouver Grizzlies and played for two seasons. In addition, he has played for Seattle, Portland, Chicago, and Milwaukee. He retired in 2002 while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.

His broadcasting career began after he retired when he joined ESPN as an analyst for NBA coverage on both ESPN and ABC. On December 13, 2008, he took over as CBS Sports’ college basketball commentator for Clark Kellogg.
