In the third round (81st overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft Hunter was drafted by the Miami Dolphins. On July 26, 2021, Hunter was signed by Miami to a four-year rookie contract. A 2023 third-round draft pick and Hunter were traded in exchange for cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams on March 15, 2023. On September 9, 2023, Hunter was put on injured reserve with a thigh injury and on November 14 he was activated.
