Ilia has worked with different stations she first worked with Teleantioquia a regional channel then in 1998 she was a host of the Noticiero Telemundo weekend edition together with a segment “Cada Dia con Maria Antonieta” the now inoperative morning show Noticiero CM&, Sadly, in 2015 she had to undergo an operation to remove a tumor in her uterus and she successfully went through it. She moved to work at Univision Primer Impacto’s weekend edition as a host after leaving Telemundo in 2007.
Together with Barbara Bermundo, she worked as a regular co-host, on Monday to Friday edition, this was after the Primer Impacto’s host Fernando del Rincon was fired in 2009. Then on the weekday edition that airs at 11:30 p.m. of Univision’s late evening newscast known as “Noticiero Univision Edicion Nocturna” she worked as a co-anchor, while still working at Primer Impacto as a co-anchor. On June 3, 2011, It was announced that Pamela Silva Conde was going to replace her, currently, she works on the 6:30 p.m news Noticiero Univision, replacing former co-anchor Maria Elena Salinas.
