From 2014 to 2017 Jalyn played for the Ohio State Buckeyes as a defensive end. From 2015 to 2017 Jalyn played in every Ohio State game Redshirting his freshman year, appearing in 40 total competitions. Jalyn was a two-time all-Big Ten Conference awardee, racking up 5 sacks, 85 career tackles, and 15 tackles for loss. Jalyn part took in two Big Ten Championships, including five bowl games, and the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship, during his time with the Buckeyes, assisting the Buckeyes to go 4–1 in that stretch.

In the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft Jalyn was selected by the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings signed Jalyn to a four-year contract worth $3.191 million, including a signing bonus of $731,396 on May 5, 2018. Jalyn recorded his first career sack in Week 7 of his recruit season, coming against Sam Darnold in New York in a 37–17 win over the Jets. The Vikings waived Jalyn on September 1, 2021.

The New Orleans Saints signed Jalyn to their practice squad on September 6, 2021. On October 6, 2021, Jalyn was elevated to the active roster. The New York Giants signed Jalyn on May 18, 2022, and on August 30, 2022, he was waived.
