John Hendricks Career
Hendricks, an Emmy-nominated journalist from Oregon, joins the FOX 12 team in July 2016. In the fall of 2009, he started working for KTVZ in Bend, Oregon, as a morning producer before switching to night reporting. He covered everything from the terrible blizzards to the swiftly expanding fires while in Bend.
He relocated to Spokane in June 2014 to work as a multimedia reporter for KXLY-TV. During his stay there, he documented the summers that followed, destroying blazing flares in central Washington and a dramatic November windstorm that left thousands in East Washington without power for an extended period.
NATAS Northwest named John a multi-media writer in 2015 and 2016, with two provincial Emmy nominations as a video columnist. RTDNF appointed John a Fellow of the RIAS Berlin Commission Trade Program for American Journalists in the fall of 2013. He traveled to Berlin, Eurfort, Frankfurt, and Brussels to examine current events, legislative issues, and cultural issues.
Before beginning his career in television news, John studied Digital Media Communications at Oregon State University (Go BEAVS! ), where he was recognized as a public finalist by College Broadcasters Inc. for reporting for two years. The Oregon Association of Broadcasters honored him with ‘Best Photography’ and ‘Best Reporting.’
