Who is Julie Etchingham?

This is all you need to know about Julie Anne Etchingham, a famous English journalist who is currently serving at ITV News as a television newsreader. After Julie finished her studies, she the BBC as a trainee, and in 1994 she proceeded to present the children’s news program, Newsround. In 2002 Julie joined Sky News and when Sky won the contract to produce news programming for Channel 5 in 2005 Julie presented editions of Five News.

Since 2008 Julie has been working on ITV News at Ten as a newscaster. Furthermore, from 2010 until 2022 Julie presented the current affairs program Tonight, and she announced that she would still occasionally be reporting for the show in 2022. In 2010 and 2016 at the Royal Television Society Journalism Awards Julie was voted “Presenter of the Year”.

Julie chaired Cameron and Farage Live: The EU Referendum and The ITV Referendum Debate for ITV News in June 2016. Julie went back to chair The ITV Leaders’ Debate before the 2017 General Election in May 2017. Julie interviewed Theresa May, Prime Minister on 5 June 2017, in which she discussed running through fields of wheat, which evolved as a meme.

Julie presented a special edition of News at Ten celebrating five decades of the program on 3 July 2017. Julie interviewed a retired presenter of the program, Sir Trevor McDonald. Julie co-presented ITV’s report of the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Phillip Schofield on 19 May 2018. Julie presented Britain’s Next Prime Minister: The ITV Debate on 9 July 2019. Julie became the new Pro-Chancellor for Birmingham Newman University on 31 October 2023.
