Kimberly Cobb is a reality tv star and climate scientist. She is a professor in the School of  Atmospheric Sciences and Earth at the Georgia Power Faculty Scholar and Georgia Institute of Technology. Kimberly after attending a summer school at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Massachusetts became interested in oceanography. She studied geology and biology at the University of Yale, where she became increasingly aware of the anthropogenic causes of climate change. Cobb moved off her original pre-med track at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and applied for a summer program graduating in 1996.

She completed her Ph.D.  in 2002 in oceanography at Scripps, hunting El Niño events in a sediment core from Santa Barbara. Kimberly spent two years at Caltech as a postdoc before joining Georgia Tech in 2004 as an assistant professor. Cobb has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications in major journals. She supervises several Ph.D. and MSc students and became a full professor in 2015.

She has won various awards including In 2007, she won the NSF CAREER award and the Georgia Tech Education Partnership Award, the nation’s top young scientists, winning the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) 2008, Kavli’s Frontiers of Science’ Fellowship[citation needed 2009, and the White House Workplace Flexibility Policies Event in 2011
