Ben-Adir began his acting career in the theatre. One of his first roles was in 2011 when he performed in Gillian Slovo’s critically acclaimed sell-out play The Riots at the Tricycle Theatre. Later in 2012, he played Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
Ben-Adir also played Borachio in Mark Rylance’s production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Old Vic in London in 2013, as well as in God’s Property at the Soho Theatre.
In 2014, he performed at the Bush Theatre in London, in the play known as We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as Southwest Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884–1915.
In Adam Smith’s British crime drama Trespass Against Us, Ben-Adir plays the character Sampson and also plays the character Sir Tristan “Wet Stick” in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Some of the other films he has appeared in include; Vera and The OA, amongst many others.
