LaVar started working on postgame as well as pregame shows for Comcast SportsNet before the Redskins’ 2007 season week 3 loss to the Giants. He became a permanent member of the Comcast team for the Green Bay Packers game on October 14. He moved back to Comcast SportsNet’s on-air lineup for week 3 of the 2008 NFL season. During that season, he appeared on the postgame as well as pregame shows.

He was featured in a segment called “Life on the Sidelines with LaVar Arrington” during Redskins’ Kickoff program on game days and as well appeared on Washington Post Live. On July 10, 2014, an announcement was made, that LaVar would join NFL Network’s NFL AM program. He commenced his work on FS1 on the “Speak For Yourself” sports talk program as a football analyst in 2019.

He trained to play basketball for North Carolina in basketball, Georgetown, as well as UMass. As a standout sprinter, he was on the school’s track & field team, he recorded personal-best times of 23.14 seconds in the 200 meters and 10.85 seconds in the 100 meters. In addition, he had top jumps of 6.76 meters in the long jump and also 1.96 meters in the high jump. LaVar was inducted into the WPIAL Hall of Fame, on June 24, 2011.
