She started as a host and reporter for IMG College, which is the largest collegiate sports marketing company, representing numerous colleges plus the NCAA. She covered the University of Georgia for the next three years, and with IMG, it also appeared in numerous studio shows of the company, including “Dawg Report”, “SportsNite”, and “SEC Men’s Basketball Tonight”.

In 2013, she started working as a sideline reporter for ESPN 2, covering the Saturday night primetime college football telecast. She also covered the Orange Bowl, which is the second-oldest bowl game in the country behind the Rose Bowl for the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. 

In 2017, Maria joined the ESPN College GameDay broadcast team as reporter and host, replacing Samantha Ponder, and was an ESPN host and reporter for the College Football Playoff between the University of Georgia and the University of Oklahoma.

Taylor also works the ABC broadcast of Saturday night football as a sideline reporter, with Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit calling the game from the booth. In 2019, Taylor began hosting NBA Countdown, the pre-game show for ESPN’s Friday night and Sunday afternoon NBA games. In 2020, she was the sideline reporter for Pittsburgh Steelers vs New York Giants Monday Night Monday opener.
