Mario was a college football player at Florida State and in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Oakland Raiders. Mario was initially projected to redshirt in his true freshman year in Tallahassee, though due to the loss of Brandon Jenkins in week one, he was then forced into action. Edwards made his first career start in the 2012 ACC Championship Game replacing Cornellius Carradine and appeared in 11 games. Mario had 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the season. Mario recorded an interception, 34 tackles, and 3.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2013. Edwards recorded 3.0 sacks and 44 tackles after returning in 2014 as a starter in his junior season.
