Nicholas Morrow Career

Nicholas signed with the Oakland Raiders a three-year, $1.67 million contract that included a signing bonus of $7,500 on May 4, 2017. Nicholas became the first Greenville player to sign an NFL contract. Nicholas joined training camp as a linebacker and performed well enough to compete for a job against Tyrell Adams and Marquel Lee as a starting linebacker. Nicholas was named the primary backup weakside linebacker, behind Cory James, to start the regular season by head coach Jack Del Rio.

During the Raiders’ season-opener at the Tennessee Titans, Nicholas made his professional regular season debut and made one solo tackle as they won 26–16. After Marquel Lee sustained an ankle injury the previous week Nicholas acquired his first career start at middle linebacker against the San Diego Chargers on October 15, 2017.

Morrow acquired his third start of the season on December 3, 2017, and during a 24–17 win against the New York Giants, he collected a season-high nine combined tackles (three solo). Nicholas finished his recruit campaign with a total of 60 combined tackles (40 solo) and four pass deflections in 16 games and five starts. The Oakland Raiders officially disclosed their decision on December 31, 2017, to suck head coach Jack Del Rio after they completed the 2017 NFL season with a 6–10 record.

After the departure of Cory James, Morrow competed throughout training camp to be the starting weakside linebacker against Marquel Lee and Emmanuel Lamur. Nicholas was named the backup strongside linebacker, behind Tahir Whitehead, to start the regular season by head coach Jon Gruden.

Morrow acquired his first start of the season on November 25, 2018, and made four solo tackles and during the Raiders’ 34–17 loss at the Baltimore Ravens had his first career sack. Nicholas sacked Lamar Jackson the Ravens’ quarterback for a four-yard loss in the first quarter. In Week 13 during a 40–33 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs Morrow collected a season-high seven solo tackles. Nicholas completed the 2018 NFL season with one sack, three pass deflections, 43 combined tackles (30 solo), and a forced fumble in 16 games and five starts.

After the Raiders signed free agents Brandon Marshall and Vontaze Burfict, Nicholas joined training camp as a backup outside linebacker. Nicholas competed against Jason Cabinda and Marquel Lee to be the primary backup. Nicholas was named Morrow the backup weak-side linebacker to start the season, behind Marquel Lee by head coach John Gruden.

The Las Vegas Raiders disclosed their decision on March 18, 2020, to place a second-round tender on Morrow. The Raiders signed Nicholas to a one-year, $3.259 million contract on April 13, 2020. Nicholas recorded his first interception of the season off a pass thrown by Drew Brees during the 34–24 win and led the team with 7 tackles in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints. Nicholas recorded his first sack of the season on Drew Lock during the 37–12 win in Week 10 against the Denver Broncos. 

On December 24, 2020, Morrow was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Raiders, and on December 29 he was activated. Nicholas recorded a season-high 11 tackles in Week 17 against the Denver Broncos and during the 32–31 win he sacked Drew Lock once. Nicholas re-signed with the Raiders on a one-year contract on March 19, 2021. On September 2, 2021, Nicholas was placed on injured reserve.

Morrow signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears on March 16, 2022. Nicholas signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on March 21, 2023.
