Kanwal interviewed India’s union minister Piyush Goyal, who he questioned the minister over the Balakot strikes, in 2019.
Also, in his show, Kanwal was criticized for simulating a skirmish between CRPF and Naxal insurgents in his TV show. Also, he earned several awards for the best anchor at the Indian Television Academy Awards in 2013, and in 2016 he got the National annual award as part of the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation and he earned the Best Anchor category at the Exchange4media News Broadcasting Award in 2019.
