After a one-year break, Robert returned to Vocalo.org in Chicago as a blogger. He was there till December of 2010. On January 3, 2011, the journalist began working as a media critic for Time Out Chicago. On April 8, 2013, he revealed in an email and on his Facebook page that he would accept a buyout of his contract and depart Time Out Chicago. He made the choice following the demise of Time Out as a print publication and the transition to a digital-only platform.
On August 15, 2013, Robert Feder started his own blogging site “RobertFeder.com” under a license and marketing deal with Chicago Tribune Media Group. According to the terms of the arrangement, certain of his blog posts would be published as articles in the Chicago Tribune newspaper.
