Hornsby moved to New York City after finishing his studies at Oxford and was cast in leading roles in Off-Broadway productions of Six Degrees of Separation (as Paul), To Kill a Mockingbird (as Atticus Finch), and Joe Louis Blues. He relocated to Los Angeles in the late 1990s to pursue a career in television and film. He has appeared in several television productions, including recurring roles as Detective Marcus Bradshaw in Haunted and Chief Resident Dr. Aaron Boise in Gideon’s Crossing.
