Simon Mayo is a famous English journalist and novelist who works for BBC Radio. He worked on three stations over his 40 years at the company, from 1982 to 2022: Radio 1, Radio 2, and Radio 5. He was selected “Radio Broadcaster of the Year” at the 34th annual Broadcasting Press Guild Awards in 2008 for his remarkable work.
He is the author of several best-selling books, including Itch (2012), Classic Confessions (1994), and Knife Edge (2020). He currently hosts Simon Mayo Drivetime, which has been broadcast on Greatest Hits Radio since March 2021.

Simon has presented for extended periods on three BBC radio stations during his stint with the corporation. From 1986 until 2001, he worked for Radio 1 as a producer, including a five-year run on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show. Later, from 2001 until 2009, he aired a weekday afternoon program on Radio 5 Live.
He later co-hosted Kermode and Mayo’s Film Review on Fridays with Mark Kermode from 2009 to 2022. Finally, from January 2010 to December 2018, he anchored Simon Mayo Drivetime on BBC Radio 2. He co-hosted the show with Jo Whiley, a radio DJ and television presenter, six months before it ended.
He currently hosts the “Simon Mayo Drive Show” on Greatest Hits Radio from Monday to Friday. After returning to the show on March 15, 2021, Simon reintroduced numerous classics from his earlier BBC Radio 2 drivetime broadcasts, including “All-Request Friday”, “Nigel’s Recipes” (Foodie Thursday), and “Confessions”, “Tuesday”. On Sunday afternoons, he also hosts his Album Show.
