Simon Pegg Biography
English actor, comedian, and playwright Simon John Pegg. In the United Kingdom, he rose to notoriety as the co-creator of the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced (1999-2001), directed by Edgar Wright. He and Wright co-wrote the films Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013), together known as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, in which Wright directed and Pegg co-starred with Nick Frost. Pegg and Frost also wrote and starred in the 2011 science fiction comedy picture Paul.

He was a regular on BBC Radio 4’s The 99p Challenge from 1998 until 2004. He has also been in the World War II miniseries Band of Brothers, as well as the television comedies Black Books, Brass Eye, and I am Alan Partridge, as well as the films The Parole Officer, 24 Hour Party People, and Guest House Paradiso. During the 1998 tour of Steve Coogan’s live stage performance The Man Who Thinks He Is It, he played a variety of roles.

He discussed his battles with depression and alcoholism in a July 2018 interview with The Guardian, and how rehab helped him recover from the latter. I am not embarrassed by what transpired. And I believe that if someone finds any connection to it, it will encourage them to do better. But I am not proud of it, and I do not think it is cool like I was Mr. Rock ‘n’ Roll, with the blackout and all that nonsense. It wasn’t; it was just awful.”
He entered rehab just before the filming of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Through court orders, he kept his recovery from the press, while some journalists went so far as to phone the facility pretending to be his mother. He attended meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous and has maintained his sobriety ever since.
