He began his career at the age of 19 years at Hoak Media of Colorado KREX-TV as an evening weather anchor. This was from November 1989 to June 1991 when he quit joining KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls, SD to work as a weekend weather anchor and reporter.
He also departed from left KSFY-TV in April 1993 and headed to Colorado Springs, Colorado. There he also joined KKTV 11 News in August 1993 as a part-time weekend meteorologist. After two years of service, he later moved to Santa Barbara, California, and joined KEYT-TV as the station’s Chief Meteorologist.
Afterward, after working for KEYT-TV for 8 years, he departed from the station and later joined WNCN in Raleigh, NC in June 2004. He has also served as the station’s weekend meteorologist, and weather graphics design for NBC O&O’s.
Steve joined ABC11 News in Raleigh NC as a weekend meteorologist in 2016. He also airs the weekend morning show host and is responsible for the weather graphics at the station. Steve has been awarded the AMS Seal of Approval and is best known in the TV meteorology community as the best weather graphics person in the nation.
