Stockton Rush Career

Stockton Rush is the founder and CEO of OceanGate, a firm that brings tourists to visit the Titanic debris, which sank on April 14, 1912.

OceanGate employs deep-diving submarines worth millions of dollars designed by Stockton himself. A single journey aboard an OceanGate submarine can cost up to $250,000. Rush’s company made headlines in June 2023 when a submarine on the expedition went missing.

According to accounts, there were five persons on board, including high-net-worth individuals Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Shahzada Dawood, and Stockton, who was in charge of the daring expedition.

When OceanGate’s submersible Titan was reported missing in June 2023, tragedy struck. The sailboat, which was carrying five people, including Stockton Rush, went missing around 435 miles south of St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The word quickly spread, sparking a desperate international rescue effort. A race against time began after the report of the missing vessel. Thousands of miles of ocean were combed by search teams in the hopes of finding the Titan and its passengers.

However, the situation was terrible, with less than 40 hours of oxygen remaining on board. The international community came together to contribute assistance, resources, and experience in the search and rescue attempt. The actions of these teams were a tribute to humanity’s determination and solidarity in times of catastrophe.

People all across the world are hoping for the safe return of the people onboard. The Crown Prince of Dubai, Hamdan bin Mohammed, posted on Twitter. Following his graduation, Stockton Rush pursued an aviation career. During the 1980s, he worked as a flight test engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation on the F-15 program.

Rush rose the ranks of many aviation and technology companies during the next few decades. He rose through the ranks to become the chair of Remote Control Technologies, as well as a director of Entomo, Inc. and BlueView Technologies. However, Stockton Rush’s passion and business spirit drove him to launch OceanGate in 2009.

Stockton Rush launched OceanGate, a pioneering corporation specializing in deep-sea exploration. Their objective is to provide enthusiasts with access to historical underwater places such as the Titanic ruins. OceanGate accomplishes this with its cutting-edge deep-diving submarines.

The acquisition of Antipodes, a five-person submarine, was the company’s first big milestone. This sailboat was purchased from a private owner and debuted to the public the following year. Within its first two years, Antipodes completed 130 successful dives, laying the groundwork for OceanGate’s future operations.

Stockton Rush and his crew at OceanGate began designing their submersibles after the success of Antipodes. Cyclops was a carbon fiber prototype for their most recent product, Titan. A submersible, unlike a submarine, requires transportation from a mothership.

The OceanGate vessels, including Cyclops and Titan, have made multiple dives in the Puget Sound region and around the world. Their travels have piqued the interest of renowned figures such as artist Macklemore, who have joined the exploration.
