His parents were Irish, German, and English, and they were both from Louisville, Kentucky. The three sisters of Cruise are Marian, Lee Anne, and Cass. William Mapother, one of his relatives, is an actor as well and has worked with Cruise in five different movies. Cruise was brought up Catholic and in close poverty. He saw his father as a “merchant of chaos,” a “bully,” and a “coward” who mistreated his kids later in life. “[My father] was the type of person who would kick you if something went wrong,” he stated. His ability to lure you in and make you feel safe was a wonderful lesson in life.
Tom Cruise Wife
On May 9, 1987, Cruise wedded actress Mimi Rogers. On February 4, 1990, they divorced. Rogers grew up in Scientology and was one of its ‘auditors’; they met when Cruise became one of her customers. Rogers discussed her divorce from Cruise in a 1993 Playboy interview, revealing that he had pondered becoming a monk, which had an impact on their relationship. Rogers later apologized, stating that her statements were misinterpreted. Rogers was awarded a $4 million settlement in his divorce.
On the set of their 1990 picture Days of Thunder, Cruise met his second wife, actress Nicole Kidman. On December 24, 1990, the pair tied the knot. They had two children through adoption: Isabella Jane (born in 1992) and Connor Antony (born in 1995). When Kidman was unaware that she was pregnant, in February 2001, Cruise filed for divorce. The pregnancy appeared to terminate in a miscarriage, but Kidman confirmed the allegations in 2007 by saying that she had had an ectopic pregnancy.
Cruise’s next romantic relationship was with Penélope Cruz, his co-star in Vanilla Sky (2001). Their three-year romance came to an end in 2004. The October 2012 issue of Vanity Fair said that following Cruise’s split from Cruz, scientists undertook a clandestine search to locate Cruise a new girlfriend. She allegedly had a brief connection with Iranian-British actress Nasanin Boniadi, who eventually left Science following a series of “auditions” for the role of Scientist actor. Cruise’s attorneys and Scientificology denied the accusations of “shoddy journalism” and “religious bigotry” against Vanity Fair, pledging to fight the charges. Journalist Roger Friedman then claimed to have received an email verifying the tale from director and former scientist Paul Haggis.
Cruise started dating actress Katie Holmes in April of 2005. Cruise and Holmes—whom the media called TomKat—made their first official public appearance together in Rome on April 27, of that year. After a month, Cruise openly confessed his love for Holmes. The pregnancy of Cruise and Holmes was revealed on October 6, 2005. Suri, their daughter, was born in April of that year. On November 18, Holmes and Cruise tied the knot in a scientific ceremony at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle.
