This is all you need to know about Symone D. Sanders-Townsend, a well-known American political commentator and political strategist currently working for MSNBC as a host of The Weekend. Symone worked for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign as national press secretary. In late June 2016, Symone left the campaign suddenly, stating “she was not let go and that departing the campaign was her choice.” CNN employed Symone in October 2016 to work as a political commentator and Democratic strategist.
Symone joined the 2020 presidential campaign of retired Vice President Joe Biden as a senior advisor in April 2019 and was named a senior advisor and chief spokesperson for Vice President Kamala Harris after Biden won the election. Symone revealed her resignation on December 2, 2021, from the White House to go back to broadcasting.

Symone was listed as one of 30 women under 30 who would shape the 2016 election in December by Fusion and she quit the Sanders campaign in June 2016. Symone joined CNN working as a commentator and analyst later that year. Symone was recognized as one of 16 Young Americans Shaping the 2016 Election by Rolling Stone magazine.
Thereafter, Symone joined the presidential campaign of retired Vice President Joe Biden. Symone was named a senior advisor and chief spokesperson for Vice President Kamala Harris on November 29, 2020. Symone disclosed her departure from that position on December 1, 2021.
MSNBC shortly disclosed that Symone would host a program on Peacock’s The Choice and a weekend program for the network. On May 7, 2022, the new MSNBC program, Symone debuted. The show was the 24th most popular show on MSNBC as of November 19, 2023. MSNBC disclosed on November 30, 2023, that Symone would shift to weekend mornings to work as an anchor of a new program, The Weekend, together with Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez. On January 7, 2024, Symone’s weekend show on Peacock and MSNBC, Symone ended, and on the same day The Weekend debuted.
