Nick’s collegiate career commenced at San Diego State where he played as a quarterback. Nick began two games for the Aztecs, finishing 13 of 38 passes for 147 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown during his freshman season, after the season he transferred to the fullback position. As a senior, Nick caught 15 for his first touchdown and 103 yards, and as a junior for caught 15 passes for 137 yards.
Nick was the lead blocker for two various 2,000-yard rushers Rashaad Penny and Donnel Pumphrey in back-to-back years. In 2016 and 2017 both of those running backs were also the leading rushers in college football.
In the seventh round (237th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft Nick was drafted by the Detroit Lions. It was disclosed on June 6, 2018, that Nick suffered a torn ACL in organized team activities and was eliminated for the 2018 season. On July 24, 2018, Nick was put on injured reserve. Nick was put on injured reserve on November 20, 2019. Nick was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury on August 31, 2020. On June 3, 2021, Nick was waived.
